I have several of these little silver puzzle pieces. They were an impulse purchase about 10 years ago when I spotted them in a little container on the counter beside the cash register at a local store.
As you can see, they have the words ‘I am’ on one side and another word on the other side (fearless, optimistic, creating).
On the day I bought them, as I sorted through the bin looking at the various messages, I found one that didn’t fit the format of the others.
That message resonated with me in a way the others didn’t, but I never understood why until recently.
I finally understood why that message resonated when I heard Jeff Marek read a Timothy Leary passage to wrap up the greatest podcast in history (personal opinion).
The piece that was not like the others says: ‘the puzzle is incomplete‘ on one side.
And on the other?
That puzzle piece carries the essential part of the Timothy Leary passage that I need to remember: we each carry a piece of the puzzle.
The puzzle cannot be complete if I try to conform to the ‘norm’ and be someone other than who I really am.
Don’t drop or ignore your piece. Carry it and find the others.
